Peter Arundel

A Washington D.C. native and career local media executive, Peter has deep connections to the business, political and nonprofit circles in the region.  He built a 30-year career in the media business as owner/publisher of Virginia News Group, publisher of 16 local newspapers and dozens of news sites, magazines and political debates throughout Northern Virginia.  His flagship newspapers – Loudoun Times-Mirror, Fairfax County Times, Alexandria Times and Fauquier Times – are rooted in the communities as trusted sources for state and local news.  He sold the company to The Washington Post and Ogden Newspapers in 2020.

Today, Peter runs The Alternative Board (TAB), a peer advisory firm for small to midsized owners.  TAB assembles executive roundtables for business owners who work on solutions to their most pressing challenges.  TAB’s strategic planning platform helps owners work more strategically towards an eventual exit. 

TAB’s team alignment program is a series of on-site workshops designed for CEOs to collaborate with their teams over common mission, key performance indicators, job assignments and systems for more efficient growth.
